Renovating a cottage kitchen in Broadbottom
With a new arrival causing chaos in a kitchen which although lovely and countrified, actually had no doors on its cupboards, our customers here were keen to modernise the kitchen, whilst still retaining the charm and character of an older house.
Removing the old kitchen allowed us to get at the walls behind it where we were able to improve all of the electrics, plumbing, insulate, and generally fill any gaps.
The kitchen (in this instance provided by Howdens Glossop) struck a balance of modern features such as corner pullouts and a dishwasher, whilst also looking right at home in an older house immediately.
We changed the main radiator from a horizontal to a vertical one which created much more space on that wall, opening it up to be used as the main dining spot, a real bonus in a smaller house such as this one.
We fitted bespoke LED lights to provide a warm glow both above and below the wall units which looks especially effective since the staircase in to the kitchen allows you to see above them.
All in all this was a very satisfying job to complete, and as with all Broadbottom kitchen fits, the unique challenges related to the age of the house made it all the more fun to tackle!
