A Kitchen where once there was a bedroom....
Our clients Craig and Phil had huge ideas for their new house.
Utilizing the stunning views looking out over Mottram and Broadbottom to Stockport, Manchester and beyond was a must.Â
At the rear of the house was a double bedroom, earmarked to be the new kitchen. This meant that fitting of new electrical circuits and plumbing to a room which had previously only had a few plug sockets was necessary, with a Grundfos macerator fitted to carry away the waste, and a Quooker tap installed to deliver instant boiling water.
Two further critical features were both a) the flow of light from the front of the house through to the rear, and b) the ability for the kitchen to be ‘soundproof’ to allow full use of the kitchen area whilst someone elsewhere in the house may remain undisturbed.
To aid this, we all put our heads together to create a visually stunning solution. The old bedroom door was blocked up, and along the wall between hallway and new kitchen 3 full height windows were installed.
The kitchen itself is a stunning, sleek and modern affair provided by German kitchen manufacturer Kutchenhaus, completely handleless and with plenty of in-built LED lights. A theme of copper against the black permeated throughout, not least in the granite worktops which look absolutely outstanding in place.
A media wall was fitted too next to the booth style dining area, and 6 isolated lighting zones were created throughout the kitchen to allow complete control over the mood felt in the room, no matter what the season.
All in all this was a fantastic project to be a part of. Our clients had a very definite vision from day one and it was hugely important to us that they felt their ideals had been met. Thankfully the results speak for themselves and there is now a new heart to this very cool home.
